Job Summary
Responsibilities
Designs, builds, tests and debugs new and existing complex software programs.
Manages and successfully moves forward multiple complex open source projects simultaneously, supporting faculty and postdoctoral scholars in their research aims.
Devises and implements algorithms.
Deploys systems on both cloud-based and physical hardware.
Resolves complex system software problems.
Independently executes feature requests from stakeholders, relying on the PI and project manager primarily for general direction, goal setting, and design outlines.
Collaborates with team members in developing software that improves testability and fault-tolerance, striving to improve the overall system-level quality.
Designs new systems, features, and tools. Solves complex problems and identifies opportunities for technical improvement and performance optimization. Reviews and tests code to ensure appropriate standards are met.
Acts as a technical consultant and resource for faculty research, teaching, and/or administrative projects.
Performs other related work as needed.

Education:
Master’s degree in computer science or related field.
Experience:
Experience in one or more of the following--computer vision, optimization, time-series forecasting, natural language understanding, data mining, and/or visualization; research experience developing and testing machine learning models; familiarity with one or more cloud platforms; and experience with virtualization and ization.
Experience with academic research.
Experience in applied machine learning.
Experience with scientific computing.
Experience with faculty and or students in higher education.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
Experience with Linux.
Professional experience with one of the major cloud providers (AWS, GCP or Azure).
